One To One Learning
Our primary goal is to provide English classes and other supportive services to immigrants to empower them to reach their full human potential and to lead meaningful lives within their communities. Interactions that occur between students and volunteer teachers build bridges of cultural understanding. The program is unique in that it provides small group instruction geared to a range of ability from persons who are illiterate in their own language to candidates for the high school equivalency examination. It provides transportation and flexibility of time required by those who work varied hours. Child-care is available while parents attend classes. We provide social services, such as food, clothing, trips to clinics, and linkage to other agencies. We provide job placement, immigration counseling, citizenship preparation, and information on housing. The community aspect is enhanced through cultural celebrations.
