The aim of Dominican University New York is to promote educational excellence, leadership, and service in an environment characterized by respect for the individual and concern for the community. The University is an independent institution of higher learning, Catholic in origin and heritage. In the tradition of its Dominican Founders, the University fosters the active, shared pursuit of truth and embodies an ideal of education rooted in the values of reflective understanding and compassionate involvement. Dominican University New York is dedicated to the principle that its educational programs and services must be both challenging and supportive, distinguished both by high standards and by attention to the needs and potential of the individual student. Dominican College is an independent, four-year liberal arts college for men and women, chartered by the Board of Regents of the University of the State of New York and fully accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Secondary Schools. It also has a Graduate Studies Division offering masters degrees and a doctoral program. A spirit of community has been a significant element of the culture of Dominican University New York . The origins and traditions of the College foster an environment which is value-centered, student-focused, and service oriented. Over 2000 students are enrolled in the undergraduate Divisions of Business, Education, Allied Health, Nursing, Social Sciences, and Arts and Sciences and graduate programs including masters in Nursing, Teacher Education, Occupational Therapy, Business Administration and a doctorate in Physical Therapy.
